The Corona Pandemic hit Namibia hard in mid-2021. Suni e.V., together with partner organizations in Namibia and Germany, quickly initiated measures. This included the purchase and shipment of APAP machines, suction devices, and medical material for oxygen supply to the state hospital in Gobabis. This was organized with the Namibian Embassy in Berlin and coordinated with officials in Gobabis. At the same time, we continued to fund masks and disinfectants at our partner facilities.
For the quick response of Suni e.V. and our donors, the honourable Pijoo Nganate, Governor of the Omaheke Region publicly thanked Suni e.V. at the end of 2021. Suni e.V. together with other individuals and entities received an award as Health Care Hero in the program Hope Amidst Covid. „ I am very happy that I had the opportunity to receive this medal in the name of Suni e.V.“ explains Patricia Ndjavera board member of Suni e.V.
Currently, the corona situation in Namibia and in Germany is manageable. We sincerely hope that we will not experience another wave in Namibia as severe as the one in 2021.
