Workshop for volunteers – Namibia, Germany and the SDGS

This year’s annual Suni e.V. workshop “Namibia, Germany and the SDGs” for volunteers and interested parties took place from Friday, September 29th, 2023 to Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 in the forest education center Haus Steinberg, in Hannoversch Münden (Germany). It was also the final event for the German participants in the German-Namibian educator exchange.

The workshop focused thematically on German-Namibian cooperation around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. What was absolutely new in this multi-day format was that, in addition to the 15 adult participants, seven children aged 3 and over also took part. This is in order to do justice to the increasing number of parents who are active on a voluntary basis. The program was designed so that the children could take part in one workshop unit per day.

The aim of the workshop was to qualify volunteers to implement development work and to strengthen civil society commitment in Germany and Namibia. The planned parallel workshop for volunteers in German-Namibian partnerships in Namibia had to be postponed because the Ministry of Education had scheduled mandatory further training for the weekend at short notice. Chairwoman Patricia Ndjavera welcomed those present and was able to join in online from Gobabis, Namibia.

We would like to thank the organizer Barbara Scharfbillig and the participants for a successful four-day workshop at the foot of the Steinberg near Hannoversch Münden.
